"Wrapped" tokens are tokens tied to the value of another cryptocurrency. Example: $BTC value = $wBTC value. These tokens are used to use tokens on a blockchain which they do not show up.

The Elrond blockchain works with tokens in the "ESDT" format: Elrond Standard Digital Token. These are tokens in this format that are used on Maiar Exchange.
You should know that the $EGLD token is not in ESDT format, surprising isn't it?

Indeed, in order to be able to use our $EGLD on Maiar Exchange, we have to convert them to $wEGLD so that they are in ESDT format.

This is why during a swap $EGLD <-> $USDC you must sign 2 transactions:

• The first to convert your $EGLD to $wEGLD
• The second to exchange your $wEGLD for $USDC
