It was 391 when all the kings decided to celebrate peace and harmony among people commemorating 100 years of the end of the Black Skies war. The meeting took place in the forests of Ruendell, which was the middle ground for every kingdom.

With their differences and similarities, Lianür, Valdir, Fingolf and Reoden, reached the consensus that prosperity achieved was the fruit of the effort of each of them and the inhabitants of their reigns, and that they wanted to reward those people who had been architects of great accomplishments.

Therefore, they decided that each king summon the best coppersmith and sorcerer of his reign to work together in the creation of 104 powerful and unique rings. The first 100 rings would be for those outstanding men who contributed to the peace, prosperity, and development of the kingdoms, giving them vitality and strength to continue their work. They would be men of honor in any kingdom on earth and their ring would pass from generation to generation as a family legacy.

The remaining 4 rings would be for each one of the kings. They would be impregnated with the main strengths of each kingdom, air for Reoden, fire for Lianür, water for Fingolf and earth for Valdir. These rings, forged with the purest magic of the 4 kingdoms, would help each king to take advantage of their kingdom´s strengths to the fullest and to pursue the development of their towns and explore the rest of the world looking for new adventures and resources.

For dozens of years, rings were transmitted from generation to generation playing an important role in the growth of the society, until envy and greed led to the unleashing of a war. Orodhrel's great-grandson of Lianür was jealous of the new king in Lughien, Eotien, since with his fleet they had managed to reach never-revealed limits of the earth and took all the treasures found for themselves without sharing anything with the rest of the kingdoms. Pruthen, new lord of the Höldum mountains, was also uncomfortable with Valdir's great-grandson Ariendul, as they were suffering from food shortages due to the severe cold storm and the king refused to give vital food to his people even though rumors said they had plenty for every human on earth. People from different kingdoms also noticed how quickly families who owned rings had progressed while they were stagnant or even worse than before those rings existed. They started conspiring to steal them or even kill to get them.

The cracks began to form a path of no return that would begin in 523 at the Age of Destruction, when Orodhrel killed an emissary of Eotien and sent his head towards Lughien after which he made a great ceremony before all the people in his kingdom, where he dumped the body of the messenger into the Trootos volcano and declared the war.

The entire world was plunged into violence, chaos, and utter mistrust. Little by little, most of the men were dying, fighting a war about which many did not know why it had arisen. The rings were wandering the world in each battle, each trip, each adventure, and many of them were being lost on land or in the sea.

Destruction and death drove the entire world to misery until King Orodhrel died in 528 poisoned by his own people who no longer wanted to continue wars, lessening conflicts with other kingdoms but at the same time initiating stages of long civil wars.

Strong men are forged in difficult times, and it was at this time that Elrond understood that his role was to unite men so they could live again in times of peace and prosperity. He did not belong to any of the 4 kingdoms, nor to the human race. He was a descendant of the Valar and roamed the land helping people. His ability to communicate and help people to build earned him the recognition of everyone during the Age of Reconstruction. There was not a human being in all the earth who did not know or tell stories about him.

Although the rings had aroused feelings that led to war, they had properties that helped their wearers to enhance their abilities, being able to accelerate the rebuilding of kingdoms. But for this they had to be found and placed in those people who would ensure the well-being of all people in the world.

The makers of those rings had long since died, but not before passing their knowledge on to later generations, who held the craft with the same passion. The shortest night of the year in the Age of Reconstruction, they found themselves in the Ruendell forest, the middle ground between the kingdoms and the place where the meeting between kings had taken place. During the full moon night they created the most powerful ring that has been created in history, the ring that Elrond would wear to find all the lost rings on earth, and guide free people to a full life free of war. This is how the new era began in middle earth, with a ring to guide them all…
